Salary Range: $90,000 - $100,000

Location: The main office for this role is 2650 S California. However, the Deputy Director of Victim Witness will spend time in various locations throughout Cook County.

Primary Function:

To work with the Director of the Victim Witness unit with the day-to-day operations of the unit as it relates to, but not limited to, time keeping, managing caseloads, and other various staff matters

Duties and Responsibilities: This job encompasses duties under four broad categories:

Qualifications:

• Program Management and Development – Responsible for leading four supervisory staff who provide supervision to line staff. Maintain county wide programs, including operations at 26^th Street, DV Courthouse, Suburban Districts, and Juvenile Court. Provide oversight and supervision for: Mental Health Program, Relocation Program, and Travel. Monthly and quarterly grant reporting. In consultation with Programs and Grants Division, assists in grant writing for new program areas.

• Administrative – Provides supervision to Victim Witness (VW) Managers. Provides supervision to Mental Health Team. Oversight of program meetings, including: staff meetings, roll calls, clinical case reviews, and mental health team weekly meetings. Oversight of all Unit disciplinary matters. Oversees all CC-Time matters. Prepare grant reports in addition to annual and year end reporting.

• Clinical and Training – Ensures that VW staff receive on-going training at regular intervals and have professional development opportunities. Prepare training and technical assistance on trauma, vicarious trauma issues, and restorative practices. Provide or coordinate clinical supervision to licensed mental health staff. Design and conduct the following trainings: SA/DV, Victims’ Rights, Vicarious Trauma, and others as needed.
• Advocacy – Advocate for training, support, and employment needs of Unit staff. Ensure that victims’ rights are upheld throughout the office and county. Respond to requests from and about victims. Actively incorporate restorative practices, where appropriate.
• Interface: The VW Deputy Director interfaces internally with leaders throughout the CCSAO, including members of the Executive Team, Bureau Chiefs, HR Director, Communications Team, Programs and Grants Team, Community Engagement Team, MIS, and ASA Supervisors. External interface with a wide range of governmental and community partners, including but not limited to: AG’s Office, City of Chicago representatives, Chicago and Suburban Police personnel, all county wide Children’s Advocacy Centers, and community based providers.
• Work a flexible schedule based on the needs of the unit.
• Maintain confidentiality of information at all levels, including within the Victim Witness Database.
• Interact regularly with victims and witnesses of crime, many of whom are in high-risk situations.
• Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Required

• Candidate must possess at least a Bachelor’s Degree plus a minimum of 5 years’ experience in the victim services and/or restorative justice fields.
• The candidate must be an empathetic listener with knowledge of the rights of victims as defined by state and national law.
• Must have the ability to multi-task and possess excellent grammar, organizational and communication skills.
• The candidate must be able to work flexible hours.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word applications required.

Preferred

• Professional, independent mental health licensure (LCSW or LCPC).
• Training in and/or experiences with restorative justice practices highly preferred.
• Prior management and program development experience preferred.
• Prior management and program development experience.
• Experience with, or ability to quickly learn, CRIMES, PROMIS, and CLERKS
