General Description:

The Cook County State's Attorney's Office (CCSAO) is seeking a savvy Digital Media Specialist to help shape the office’s presence on social media and create engaging content across a variety of visual formats, including photography, videography, and graphic design. The Digital Media Specialist is responsible for leading strategy on a range of projects that help inform the public about the work of the CCSAO, including creating compelling content for social media, planning and managing content calendars, and designing presentation visuals on PowerPoint for internal and external audiences. This is a highly collaborative position that will require a candidate with strong time management skills and experience excelling in fast-paced environments. Experience in creative discipline such as photography, videography, and/or video editing is preferred.

Working Environment:

This role’s expected schedule will be business hours, Monday through Friday, 8:30 – 4:30. However, attendance at occasional evening or weekend CCSAO events is expected.

Physical Requirements:

Light work. Light work involves lifting no more than 20 pounds at a time with frequent lifting or carrying of objects weighing up to 10 pounds. Even though the weight lifted may be very little, a job is in this category when it requires a good deal of walking or standing, or when it involves sitting most of the time with some pushing and pulling of arm or leg controls. To be considered capable of performing a full or wide range of light work, you must have the ability to do substantially all these

activities. If someone can do light work, we determine that he or she can also do sedentary work, unless there are additional limiting factors such as loss of fine dexterity or inability to sit for long periods of time.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Develop engaging social media content using photography, videos, and text-based visuals that reflect the CCSAO’s mission and help the public better understand the work of the office.
  • Oversee consistent planning, management and posting of content across a variety of platforms including Instagram (Reels, Stories, In-Feed), X, LinkedIn, and Facebook.
  • Incorporate best practices and relevant trends across social media sites to help the office connect with a broader audience.
  • Craft accurate and compelling captions to accompany scheduled social media posts
  • Act as a staff photographer to document important events, initiatives, and campaigns for the CCSAO.
  • Implement effective protocols for digital media management and storage of digital assets.
  • Lead the video creation process from start to finish, including conceptualizing, filming, and editing videos to be shared externally.
  • Design aesthetically interesting social media posts and PowerPoint presentations under tight deadlines.

Qualifications:

Required

  • The candidate must be detail oriented, have excellent interpersonal skills, excellent verbal and written communication skills, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to multi-task.
  • The candidate must have the ability to work independently
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and SharePoint
  • Expertise in Adobe Premier, Photoshop, Microsoft PowerPoint, and other relevant editing platforms.
  • Advanced proficiency with audio/visual equipment

Preferred

  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Marketing, Digital Media, Journalism, or a related field, or equivalent education and experience
  • Track record of executing successful social media campaigns, successful time management skills, and ability to collaborate across various teams.
