Salary: $184,400. Salary is provided by law; however, individual compensation is based on various factors unique to each candidate, including skill set, years and quality of experience. Any salary offered is determined by the Chief of Staff and is non-negotiable.

Position Description: The Criminal Prosecutions Bureau of the Cook County State’s Attorney’s Office is seeking a Wing Supervisor to supervise the Felony Trial Division Assistant State’s Attorneys (ASAs) assigned to the 6 – 7 Felony Courtrooms on the wing and oversee all cases prosecuted by those ASAs in the respective courtrooms. This is a full-time bargaining unit exempt position.

Working Environment & Reporting Structure: The Wing Supervisor will report directly to the Deputy Bureau Chief – Felony Trial Division of the Criminal Prosecutions Bureau.

Duties/Requirements: The Wing Supervisor is responsible for the oversight of a Felony Trial Division Wing within the Cook County State’s Attorney’s Office – Criminal Prosecutions Bureau and must ensure that cases, from assignment to disposition, are prosecuted fairly and handled properly and that the ASAs assigned to the wing are appropriately performing all aspects of their jobs. The Wing Supervisor is also responsible for communicating with and assisting the Supervisors and ASAs assigned to differing units and bureaus within the Office who have pending cases in the courtrooms assigned to the wing. The Wing Supervisor is responsible for providing daily guidance and supervision to all ASAs assigned to the wing and for identifying training needs and reporting those needs to the Director of Training. The Wing Supervisor must also assist in the development and implementation of relevant trainings within the Office as needed. The Wing Supervisor must be aware of all significant litigation handled on the wing and must regularly consult with the ASAs on those matters, as well as the Chief and Deputy Chief of the Criminal Prosecutions Bureau, when needed

The ASA shall be an effective advocate and emissary of the mission, vision and values of the Cook County State’s Attorney’s Office both with ASAs as well as criminal justice stakeholders and partners.

Minimum Qualifications:

• A minimum of 15 years of litigation experience in criminal law with significant experience handling First Degree Murder prosecutions.
• Felony first chair or equivalent experience.
• Must have completed at least one tour as a Trial Supervisor in the Felony Review Unit.
• Must have demonstrated strong leadership skills and the ability to motivate other

• Must exercise integrity and decorum in all situations.
• Must have a Juris Doctor from an accredited law school
• Be either a member in good standing with the Illinois bar, or eligible for admission to Illinois bar on Motion (reciprocity)

Preferred Qualifications:

• Prior supervisory experience
• Prior experience as a first chair in a felony courtroom (Chicago or Suburban courthouse)

Physical Requirements: Light work. Light work involves lifting no more than 20 pounds at a time with frequent lifting or carrying of objects weighing up to 10 pounds. Even though the weight lifted may be very little, a job is in this category when it requires a good deal of walking or standing, or when it involves sitting most of the time with some pushing and pulling of arm or leg controls. To be considered capable of performing a full or wide range of light work, you must have the ability to do substantially all these activities. If someone can do light work, we determine that he or she can also do sedentary work, unless there are additional limiting factors such as loss of fine dexterity or inability to sit for long periods of time.
